March 27 – Cesar Chavez Celebration in Santa Ana

Cesar Chavez StampOn Saturday at 11am, come to the 10th annual “Cesar Chavez Holiday Celebration” at Jerome Park in Santa Ana.

The celebration honors the legacy of Cesar E. Chavez, co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union, environmentalist, humanitarian and a veteran of the United States Navy.

The National Farmworkers Association, led by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, joined striking Filipino American farm workers from the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee to demand wages equal to the federal minimum wage in the Delano Grape Strike.  In August 1965, the two groups merged to form the United Farm Workers of America.

Cesar Chavez’s birthday, March 31 is a California State Holiday.
