Pasta-stuffed Pool in Garden Grove Sets World Record
Not for the tallest building, the strongest man, the longest hair, the biggest house or the oldest woman.
Garden Grove will get in the record books for the biggest bowl of pasta served up in an above-ground swimming pool disguised as a pasta dish in the Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant’s parking lot off Harbor Boulevard.
13,780 pounds of spaghetti – that’s what Buca di Beppo‘s chefs and servers cooked up as a special project all week. On Friday, they dumped buckets of the spaghetti into the “bowl” and poured 120 gallons of ruby red marinara sauce over their monstrous creation.
It beats a former record set by the Watniya Restaurants-Sbarro on March 28, 2009 in Doha, Qatar, for 9,767 pounds.
“We hit this one out of the park so the record will stand for a while,” said Kevin Sheehan, general manager of Buca di Beppo in Garden Grove.
