Santa Ana Valley High to celebrate 50th anniversary

A reception will take place Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m. The event, which will include music, light refreshments and memorabilia for sale by Valley clubs and teams, will serve as an opportunity for alumni, school supporters, staff and classmates to reconnect with each other.

The reception will be held at the school’s aquatic center and include guest speakers from the Santa Ana Unified School Board and former and current elected officials. Tickets can be purchased for $10 online at or by calling the school at 714-241-6410. The cost is $15 at the door. All proceeds go toward supporting Valley High School student programs.

Also planned are guided school tours on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Tour participants are asked to meet in the main quad area next to the flag pole behind the Administration Building.

In addition, Valley High Falcons’ homecoming football game is set for Saturday against the Rebels of Savannah High School. Game time is 1 p.m. at the Santa Ana Bowl.

Valley High School, at 1801 South Greenville in Santa Ana, has 2,600 students. Over the past year, $26.9 million in upgrades and modernization improvements have been made to the campus. Upgrades include new administration building, a state-of-the-art cafeteria, and a new Olympic size pool and aquatic.

Also on Friday, Greenville Fundamental Elementary will be celebrating its 30th anniversary during the school’s annual carnival from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Greenville is located at 3600 S. Raitt St.
