Garden Grove holds lottery for community garden spaces
October 29, 2009
From the Orange County Register – Garden Grove is offering 10-foot-by-10-foot plots based on a lottery system for its first community garden at the northeast corner of Eighth Street and Garden Grove Boulevard.
The volunteer-run garden will hold 55 plots for people or groups at $45 in rent for each plot.
The program will offer Garden Grove residents a chance to have their own plot of land where they can organically grow their own food – be it vegetables, herbs, flowers or fruits. A grand opening is set for Nov. 21.
Residents are now invited to sign up for the lottery. Winners will be notified by Nov. 21.
